在过去的一周，川普夫人被指早年涉嫌签证违规的新闻占据了很多媒体的报道。事情起源于上周美国媒体Politico质疑川普夫人Melania Trump发言中提及她早期身份的部分。Politico的文章指出，川普夫人曾在之前的多次发言中提到，她当初刚到美国的时候，不得不“每隔几个月”回到斯洛文尼亚续签证。

川普夫人发言的本意，是为了支持川普打击非法移民的政策，以身作则，号召大家都要遵守美国的移民法律，按章办事。但是Politico的文章指出，川普夫人关于她早年不得不每隔几个月回国续签的说法，很是蹊跷，因为一般的工作签证都不会只有几个月。于是Politico的文章进一步推断，川普夫人当时涉嫌用商务旅行签证在美国工作，涉嫌身份违法。

截止到今天，风波仍在继续。川普的对手要求川普夫人公开自己的移民记录以证清白，而川普表示，在接下来的时间里，他们会安排新闻发布会，就这件事情作澄清。
